Vintage postcards were the starting point for this design, drawing on a nostalgia for communication from the 19th and 20th century and the time-worn sentiments of “wish you were here” and “Having a lovely time”. 

Researching the theme Jane was taken by the beautiful illustrations Else Lasker Schuler received from Franz Marc (Blue Franz). His hand-painted postcards had a powerful effect on her and Else wrote  to Franz Marc“

I feel like turning cartwheels my Blue Franz, because we talk as friends, and I want to do, I don’t know what, when your postcards come”.  

The colourways in the Picture Postcard range were named after the destinations the colour palette reflects, blues for Tallinn seaport, pinks for the floral abundance in Honolulu - Hawaii, rust and orange hues for the dessert in Casablanca, whilst ochre and yellows were used for San Antonio, New Mexico. 

The Non-repeat design can be printed in various sizes. Picture Postcard would work particularly well as a wall art to create unique, colourful focal point.
