Rose Rhapsody

Rhapsody Repeat Design: W: 35cm HD 21 cm

Travels to the rose garden at Bowood and Mottisfont Abbey’s walled gardens, home to the National Collection of pre-1900 old-fashioned roses provided the starting point for a visual exploration of this flower.

The design explores the gentle symbolism these blooms convey. Pale pink roses for joy, admiration and grace whilst deep pink blooms symbolise deep gratitude and appreciation.

When the Rose is Faded by Walter de la Mare (first verse only)

When the rose is faded,

Memory may still dwell on Her beauty shadowed,

And the sweet smell gone.

A repeat pattern featuring loose shapes depicting rose petals in pastel shades create a gentle, feminine look which would be particularly well suited to bedrooms in either a commercial space such as a hotel or the home.

Printed onto a choice of fabrics suitable for upholstery, curtains and other soft furnishings.
